Study: Nation’s History Now Taught Exclusively by Football Coaches
Learning is just upper-upper-body conditioning
An unprecedented 100% of polled history teachers indicated they would also coach football during the next school year, according to new research conducted by the Center for Athletic Eligibility. That’s the most decisive answer in the history of the annual study, even surpassing the number of students who said an educator encouraged them to follow their dreams (87%).
Participation Trophy Sports reached out to area families and school administrators for their thoughts about history’s transition to the athletics department.
“It’s just common sense,” said Thad Brentwood, the principal at Drewes High School. “No one wants to fight over an extra parking space with some Constitution nerd who’s not even going to help take us to state. Plus, Coach Weston parks way down by the practice field anyway. It’s win-win.”
Brentwood takes credit for starting the trend of burdening coaches with the story of our nation. He says the thought first occurred to him in the early ’80s amid mounting staffing and budget shortages.
